Circumcision for Adults and Boys
Circumcision is not just for newborns. Whether for religious, cultural, personal, hygienic, or medical reasons, circumcision can often be performed safely for older boys, teenagers, and adults.
Many families contact us after missing the newborn period and are surprised to learn that circumcision remains an option. We also hear from adult men who have been considering circumcision for months or even years and are finally ready to take the next step.
Family Circumcision provides circumcision services throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Delaware. Procedures may be performed either in the comfort of your home or at our clinic on the border of Jackson and Lakewood, New Jersey.
The First Step
The process begins with a conversation. We discuss the patient's age, medical history, goals, and any questions or concerns you may have. Every case is different, and we take the time to understand your situation before making recommendations.
Many clients are understandably nervous before reaching out. That's completely normal. Our goal is to provide clear information, answer your questions honestly, and help you decide whether circumcision is right for you or your child.
The Procedure
For older boys and adults, circumcision is typically performed using a local anesthetic. Once the area is numb, patients remain fully awake throughout the procedure.
Many people are surprised by how manageable the experience is. Some choose to watch videos on their phone, listen to music, read a book, or simply relax during the procedure. Because local anesthesia is used, there is no need for general anesthesia, sedation, or an overnight stay.
The procedure is completed in a clean, professional environment using equipment specifically designed for patient comfort. Once finished, the incision is closed with dissolvable sutures that gradually disappear on their own over the following weeks.
Patients return home immediately after the procedure.
Recovery
Some swelling, tenderness, and sensitivity are expected during the early stages of healing. Most patients are able to manage these symptoms with a combination of ice, Tylenol, and Advil as needed.
Detailed aftercare instructions and supplies are provided, and we remain available to answer questions throughout the healing process. Recovery is gradual, with steady improvement occurring day by day over the following weeks.
Why Families Choose Family Circumcision
Choosing a circumcision provider is an important decision. Many families appreciate the convenience of having the procedure performed in their own home, while others prefer the privacy and simplicity of an in-clinic appointment.
Unlike a hospital setting, you know exactly who will be performing the procedure and have direct access to your provider before and after the circumcision. Questions can be addressed personally, concerns can be discussed directly, and follow-up support remains available throughout recovery.
Rabbi Shlomo Golish has more than 15 years of circumcision experience and has worked with families and clients from a wide variety of backgrounds. Our goal is to provide a professional, respectful, and comfortable experience from the initial consultation through complete healing.
